    Description

I used to repair, service and restore old malt / milk shake mixers. Accumulated a lot of spare parts over the years and am now going to sell some of my extras.
This listing is for one (1) new old stock Hamilton Beach nameplate for the triple spindle 40/940 mixers.
    Picture is not of exact.
These are "new old stock" but be advised they sat on a warehouse shelf for 3-4 decades. Also, they were originally individually wrapped in paper but mostly got unwrapped and handled/shuffled around and then rubbed up against eachother. The white paint/background is not perfect but close to it; expect some minor scratches though! My best guess is these were a last/special round of nameplates made by Ham Beach to fit the old 40/940 triple spindle malt mixers. I say last/special because they are probably NOT like your existing old nameplate (assuming you have one). Every 40/940 I have restored has had a "smooth" nameplate where the white color around the words Hamilton beach is a solid filler and is flush or even with the letters. If you swipe your finger across the nameplate it is a smooth flat surface. Don't know what the white filler was exactly but it was hard and brittle and can chip; many of the old nameplates are missing chunks of this white filler or there are visible cracks in it.
The nameplates I am selling have raised letters and a recessed (painted) white background! From a distance they look the same but up close if you pay attention you can easily see the difference.
These will NOT fit any other Ham Beach mixer. Each nameplate comes with two new flat nuts. They are a push fit or you can "screw" them onto the posts with a pair of pliers. They are much easier to get on than off so I don't recommend test fitting them and make sure everything is lined up properly the first time. If you try to remove/pull them off too forcefully you may snap off the post from the back of the nameplate.
To mount the nameplate on your mixer you are going to at a minimum have to remove the top green or ivory pan covering the motors to access the back of the big chrome nameplate band. Unplug mixer first! To do this you will need to remove the 3 speed switch knobs (typically fastened with a small (flat blade) screw). Then you need to remove two long (flat blade again) screws that go up through the bottom motor pan and fasten/screw into the top pan. At that point you should be able to wiggle the top pan straight up and separate it from the chrome nameplate band ring. MAY HELP to have someone else hold the chrome nameplate band in place (pushing down against the lower motor pan) while you pull up on the top pan.
If you want to also remove the chrome nameplate band you are going to have to unscrew the retaining screw on top of all 3 speed switches so the switches stay with the mixer frame and motors and the chrome nameplate band can be lifted off. On one side of the chrome nameplate band (the triangular portion where the switches mount) you will find a terminal strip with 3 wires attached to it (1/4" spade lugs). They will also need to be disconnected.
