*This was originally scheduled to be the final performance at Radio City Music Hall however on April 8, four days before the planned closing date, the Empire State Development Corporation voted to create a nonprofit subsidiary to lease the Music Hall. One month later, on May 12, Radio City Music Hall was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. Renovation of the Music Hall started in April 1979 and in 1980 it reopened to the public. Regular film showings ended and live shows were reduced to holiday showings only.
